\u201cTHE COLD WHITE GLARE of a headlight cuts through the darkness of the deserted supermarket parking lot on an early autumn night.
I freeze, every hair on the back of my neck standing on end.
The faint glow from the scattered streetlights was creepy enough, but against the motorcycle\u2019s blazing cone of light, it vanishes now.
Right as it hits me that the rider is slowly prowling the empty lot, cutting lazy loops as he searches for something, the neon sign above the supermarket flickers off.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cReturn the cart, Snow White,\u201d he orders in a voice as rough and deep as too much whiskey and even more cigarettes. \u201cI’ll keep an eye on your dwarf princess in the meantime.\u201d
My dwarf princess? I\u2019m about to correct him when it hits me: the less this criminal knows about us, the better…
\u2018Hey, babe! You don\u2019t gotta overdo the whole Snow-White act.\u2019 The biker lets out a dirty laugh. \u2018I don\u2019t see any glass coffin around here. Or do you need a kiss to wake up from your trance?\u2019 He raises his eyebrows with a cocky smirk.
\u2018A kiss? From him?\u2019 \u2018N-no!\u2019 I stammer…
\u2018Just promise me you won\u2019t tell anyone, Snow White.\u2019 He laughs again. \u2018If you\u2019re a good girl, I\u2019ll skip collectin\u2019 my kiss.\u2019\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n
