“THE COLD WHITE GLARE of a headlight cuts through the darkness of the deserted supermarket parking lot on an early autumn night.
I freeze, every hair on the back of my neck standing on end.
The faint glow from the scattered streetlights was creepy enough, but against the motorcycle’s blazing cone of light, it vanishes now.
Right as it hits me that the rider is slowly prowling the empty lot, cutting lazy loops as he searches for something, the neon sign above the supermarket flickers off.

“Return the cart, Snow White,” he orders in a voice as rough and deep as too much whiskey and even more cigarettes. “I’ll keep an eye on your dwarf princess in the meantime.”
My dwarf princess? I’m about to correct him when it hits me: the less this criminal knows about us, the better…
‘Hey, babe! You don’t gotta overdo the whole Snow-White act.’ The biker lets out a dirty laugh. ‘I don’t see any glass coffin around here. Or do you need a kiss to wake up from your trance?’ He raises his eyebrows with a cocky smirk.
‘A kiss? From him?’ ‘N-no!’ I stammer…
‘Just promise me you won’t tell anyone, Snow White.’ He laughs again. ‘If you’re a good girl, I’ll skip collectin’ my kiss.’”
